In order to support and strengthen the implementation of CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning) in schools, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sport and Youth has established a CLIL Coordinating Centre in December 2015, which coordinates and supports the implementation of CLIL in Cyprus. The Centre is based on the premises of Agios Spiridonas Primary school in Strovolos and focuses on:
Creating and supporting a network of schools and educators involved in CLIL implementation
Training and supporting educators who are implementing CLIL (e.g. through conferences, seminars, workshops, mentoring)
Developing CLIL educational materials
Drafting proposals for EU or other grants
Organising and carrying out research on CLIL through collaborations with academic and research institutions
Informing parents and the wider public on CLIL and its implementation
Establishing partnerships with academics and other experts in Cyprus and abroad
Establishing partnerships with similar Centres in other countries
The CLIL Coordinating Centre is supported by an Advisory Board. The members of the Advisory Board were appointed by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sport and Youth and represent a variety of stakeholders including the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sport and Youth, parent associations and academic institutions.
